DSTU STUDENTS STUDYING WINEMAKING WILL UNDERGO PRACTICAL TRAINING AT ARGENTINE WINERIES
Nunez Edgardo Marcelo Jonathan, President of the Association of Enologists of the Mendoza Province - the most famous and largest winemaking region of Argentina – has paid a visit to the Don State Technical University. At the meeting with the Dean of the Agroindustrial Faculty Dmitry Rudy, the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in the field of viticulture and winemaking - in particular, the organisation of industrial practice of DSTU students in Argentine wineries.
The parties plan to organise practical training of DSTU students at La Abeja winery within the framework of cooperation with the Institute INTA SOVIAR-INTA. The agreement with the foreign educational partner was the result of the working trip of Dmitry Rudoy, Dean of the Faculty "Agroindustrial" of DSTU, head of the specialised organisation of the territorial cluster "Don Valley" of the Rostov region, to Argentina as a member of the Rostov region government delegation. The purpose of the delegation's visit to Argentina was to establish a strategic partnership, exchange of experience in viticulture and winemaking, as well as the development of research and educational activities of universities according to the principles of open education.
Within the framework of the working meeting Dmitry Rudoy told the Argentine oenologist about the areas of training implemented at the Faculty of Agroindustrial of DSTU.
– Today about 1,500 students study at the faculty in more than 20 areas of training, including agricultural engineering, processing of agricultural products, winemaking, biotechnology, technical means of aquaculture," said Dmitry Rudoy. – In addition, there is a direction related to the development of equipment for the food industry and agriculture. This year we have opened a new direction related to plant breeding. Agrochemistry, soil science and IT in agriculture are also among the new directions.
Dmitry Rudoy introduced the guest to the laboratories of the university, and also informed him about co-operation with industrial partners who provide their sites for industrial practice for DSTU students.
– The main purpose of my visit to Russia is to visit wineries, to provide their employees with consulting assistance, to assess the quality of wine produced in the region. For eight years I have been working as a chief enologist at La Abeja winery. Every year for 1.5 months we receive students from Argentinean universities that train future enologists and agronomists, as well as students from colleges that train technical specialists in the field of agroindustry. We also accept international students for internship. We will be glad to welcome students from DSTU, – said Nunez Yedgardo Marcelo Jonathan.
