DSTU AND THE COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY, THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA, WILL COOPERATE IN THE FIELDS OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND CULTURE
Don State Technical University and Copperbelt University, the Republic of Zambia, signed a cooperation agreement and a memorandum of understanding in the field of academic and scientific cooperation on 28 July within the framework of the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.
The documents were signed by CBU Acting Vice Chancellor (Rector) Paul Chisale and DSTU Rector Besarion Meskhi. The signing ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev.

- We are interested in developing cooperation with Copperbelt University in the area of training qualified personnel to meet Zambia's needs in the fields of agricultural machinery, agriculture, animal husbandry, aquaculture and veterinary medicine. We have had a close partnership with Copperbelt University for over 3 years. I am sure that the signed agreements will provide a strong foundation for long-term and fruitful cooperation," said Besarion Meskhi, Vice Chancellor of DSTU.

The documents provide for cooperation in the field of educational and cultural exchanges, improvement of the quality of education, scientific and technical research, participation in national and international projects and holding joint events.

Vasily Golubev is confident that the agreements signed at the forum will bring the links in the scientific and educational complex of the Rostov region and African countries to a new level.

- We have agreed to increase the number of African representatives studying at our universities. Nearly a thousand students from 42 African countries are currently studying on the Don. Young people in particular are interested in becoming doctors, engineers and IT specialists. A world-class scientific and educational centre is successfully operating in our region, and an engineering school has been established at the DSTU. This arouses great interest among foreign students," said the Don land governor.

It should be recalled that productive cooperation between Zambia and DSTU began in 2020. DSTU and the Republic are connected by several projects. In 2021, the memoranda of understanding were signed with Mulungushi University and the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Zambia.
