DSTU POSTGRADUATE STUDENT RANKED AMONG THE BEST YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE
Egor Atamanchuk, the postgraduate student at “Biology and Pathonomy” department, won the second place in the final of the V National Interuniversity Championship "Young Professionals" according to WorldSkills Russia standards for the competence of "Veterinary Medicine" which was held on September 24 in Moscow on the basis of the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after K.I. Scriabin.
During 2 days, six finalists from the leading universities of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Stavrapol, Saratov and Rostov-on-Don demonstrated their knowledge in the fields of ophthalmology, surgery, microbiology, as well as diagnostic skills using computed tomography, laboratory and ultrasound diagnostics, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The championship was held according to the WorldSkills Russia standards. Based on the results of the completed competitive modules, experts gave each participant points corresponding to the level of demonstrated practical skills. The winners were determined by the sum of all points.
In the final round the double assessment system was applied: the work of experts were under control of universities observers which avoided an error in determining a worthy winner.
The Interuniversity Championship according to WorldSkills Russia standards is designed to promote professional training in the higher education system, update educational standards and training programs in higher educational institutions that meet the requirements of the labor market as much as possible. Participants get an opportunity to objectively assess their level of qualification and increase the chances of employment among the best employers. The competitions in the "Veterinary Medicine" competence were held for the first time this year.
