A REGIONAL EXAMINATION CENTRE FOR CHINESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE WILL OPEN AT DSTU
Don State Technical University has signed an agreement with Shandong Transport University to establish language examination centres at the universities, which will issue certificates confirming the level of proficiency in Russian and Chinese. A testing centre for Russian as a foreign language will be opened at Shandong Transport University, and a regional examination centre for Chinese language will be opened at DSTU. The signing took place within the framework of the meeting of Alexey Beskopylyny, Vice-Rector for Academic Work and International Activities of DSTU, and Alexey Logvinenko, Head of Rostov-on-Don Administration, with the management of the Chinese university.
Within the framework of the International Forum of Sister Cities of Shandong Province between Shandong Transport University and Don State Technical University a framework agreement on joint establishment of language examination centres was signed: a regional testing centre for the Chinese language according to the HSK system (see reference) - in DSTU and the TRKI exam (abbreviation for "test in Russian as a foreign language") in STU.
Alexey Beskopylyny, Vice-Rector for Academic Work and International Activities of DSTU, and Sergey Meshcheryakov, Head of International Cooperation Service, represented the supporting university of the Don region as part of the delegation from Rostov-on-Don to Jinan (the capital of Shandong Province).
– Today another milestone event took place - STU and DSTU signed an agreement on the creation of regional language centres, – commented Alexey Beskopylny. – This event was preceded by more than twenty years of co-operation between the universities. The creation of the Don Institute, which currently has more than 1,200 students at all levels of training - bachelor's, master's and postgraduate.
The representatives of the universities discussed the possibilities of implementing joint research projects and organising international scientific conferences. According to Alexey Beskopylyny, «such a step will bring the educational projects of the two universities to a qualitatively new stage of development».
– Our co-operation has lasted for more than 20 years, – emphasised in his speech the rector of SHTU Chen Sunyan. – We exchange visits of teachers and students, work together on educational projects, as well as take part in specialised and undergraduate programmes. Thanks to our efforts, the Don Institute is developing rapidly. Today's success of the institute demonstrates the excellent results of Sino-Russian co-operation in education and university management.
The Vice-Rector also met with Liu Chunguang, Director of the Don Institute of STU-DSTU, and students of the joint educational platform.
– It is pleasant to note the great interest of both students from China and children from Rostov in obtaining comprehensive knowledge on joint educational programmes implemented on the basis of the Don Institute, – said Alexey Beskopylyny.
It should be reminded that on 25 September the International Forum of Twinning Cooperation of Shandong Province was inaugurated. Employees of DSTU were part of the delegation of Rostov-on-Don, which arrived in Jinan with a working visit.
HSK - Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi is a standardised Chinese language qualification examination for non-native speakers of Chinese, namely foreign students, overseas Chinese and representatives of ethnic minorities living in the PRC.
