DSTU AND NECMETTIN ERBAKAN UNIVERSITY WILL CO-OPERATE IN SCIENCE AND EDUCATION
Don State Technical University and Necmettin Erbakan University (Republic of Turkey) have signed an agreement on co-operation in scientific, educational and social spheres. The management of both universities plans to strengthen academic ties by developing and implementing joint research projects, holding joint international conferences, sports competitions and cultural events.
– Our university has more than 34,000 students, 2,000 of whom are foreigners. The educational programmes of our university are implemented in 6 languages. We would like to increase the number of foreign students at the university, including through the implementation of joint academic mobility programmes with DSTU, involving the exchange of students, – commented Muhammad Said Topal, responsible for international activities of Necmettin Erbakan University.
Rector of DSTU Besarion Meskhi introduced the foreign guests to the university and its structure - faculties, areas of training, main high-tech projects.

– More than 3,000 international students from 89 countries study at DSTU. Our university has 10 dissertation councils and more than 10 scientific schools. DSTU has two representative offices in Uzbekistan and a joint educational institution in China. We are interested in developing strong and effective co-operation with Necmettin Erbakan University, – said Besarion Meskhi.

Vice-rector of Necmettin Erbakan University Ali Kahraman proposed to organise scientific research in the field of agro-biotechnology – aquaculture, processing of grain crops, fertilizer production, precision agriculture, as well as in the field of linguistics, archaeology, energy and modern concrete technologies. In addition, the parties discussed the issue of interaction and exchange of experience between the Faculty of Bioengineering and Veterinary Medicine of DSTU and the Faculty of Medicine of the Turkish university.

– Our research centre is engaged in the study of the latest biomaterials, – Ali Kahraman said. – Together with your scientists we can share best practices in all these areas. We are also ready to take part in international scientific conferences and grant projects of universities and Turkish scientific fund TUBITAK together with your university.
During the two-day visit the Turkish delegation also met with Alexey Beskopylny, Vice-Rector for Academic Work and International Activities of DSTU, and representatives of international structures of the university.

– We can consider the creation of joint Master's degree programmes in mechanical engineering and mechanics in English. We already have such experience. Besides, we provide short-term and long-term training courses for foreign students within the framework of academic mobility programmes, – said Alexey Beskopylyny.
Nina Novikova, Dean of the Faculty "International" of DSTU, told about the activities of the faculty, created specifically to prepare foreign students for further study at the university within the chosen direction.

– During the training students not only master Russian language, but also pass tracks with special vocabulary, which help to form a professional vocabulary. At the end of Russian language training, students take a final exam. On the basis of our faculty there is a club where foreigners get acquainted with Russian culture, traditions, peculiarities of Russian mentality, – said Nina Novikova.

The delegation of the Turkish university had a tour around DSTU and its subdivisions: faculties "Agroindustrial", "Bioengineering and Veterinary Medicine", "International", "Applied Linguistics", media park "Southern Region - DSTU", animation technopark "Magika", as well as the Don Engineering Centre.
Also during the visit the deans of the faculties of "Machine Building Technology", "Automation, Mechatronics and Control" and "Industrial and Civil Engineering", "Applied Linguistics" of

DSTU presented to their Turkish colleagues the educational programmes of Bachelor's, Specialist, Master's and Postgraduate studies, which are implemented at their departments, including programmes in English.
