    WHY STUDY PHARMACY?

    The degree program is focused on training pharmaceutical chemists able to carry out self-dependent pharmaceutical practice. Training is practice-oriented and is aimed at formation of common cultural and professional competencies.

    “Pharmacy” is training of professionally-oriented qualified personnel in the field of pharmacy, who possess scholarly knowledge, state-of-the-art technologies and professional competences associated with the readiness to implement set goals and objectives and allowing for a specialist pharmacist to be competitive and highly-demanded in the labor market.

    The objects of the graduates’ professional activities involve medicinal products for human and veterinary use, other pharmacy goods, medicinal plant raw materials, biologically active substances, biological fluids and tissues, pharmaceutical activities, engineering processes in pharmaceutical production, legal entities, individuals.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Upon graduation, you will be able:

    • demonstrate evidence-based knowledge of the scientific foundations of medication research, approval and development
    • classify the pharmaceutical forms and routes of administration for drugs
    • apply scientific knowledge and principles of biological sciences, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacogenomics to generate hypotheses
    • apply quantitative principles in the calculations of doses, concentrations, molarities, standard curves and of pharmacokinetics.
    • accurately and safely prepare, store and use drugs and chemicals in accordance to applicable environmental health and safety to carry out clinical laboratory research using products for in vitro diagnostics, technological processes and technologies
    • collaborate and communicate with other members of an interdisciplinary laboratory research
    • explain the drug action on signal transduction systems
    • express the mechanisms of drug action: non-specific and specific mechanisms (sites of action for drugs), receptors, ion channels, ion pumps, enzymes etc.
